Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Yash Dayal has been booked under serious criminal charges by Uttar Pradesh Police, just weeks after helping RCB secure their maiden IPL title. An FIR was registered at Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following allegations of sexual exploitation, physical violence, and mental harassment by a woman who claims she was deceived with false promises of marriage.
The woman, who lives in Ghaziabad, has complained that she was in a five-year affair with the 27-year-old left-arm pacer, who used to exploit her both emotionally, mentally and physically with the false promise of marrying her. As the FIR reads, she says that Dayal took her to his family who made her feel as though she would one day become his daughter-in-law and so she trusted him fully. The offences BNS Section 69 bears refer to carnal acts achieved through deception, and the penalty is up to 10 years' jail term.
According to
NDTV, she said,
"I was mentally broken due to this behavior. He broke my self-confidence and made me dependent on him, both financially and mentally. I was suffering from depression for quite some time, and it was difficult for me to lead a normal life. I tried to commit suicide on multiple occasions because I was unable to deal with the mental torture."
The NDTV further states that the complainant also fabricated the claim that Dayal had been going out with several other women, even as they had been going out and had borrowed money from her despite knowing her during their encounters. She says she has enough evidence in terms of chat messages, screenshots, recordings of video calls, and pictures to back up her claims.
According to
Republicworld, the woman first approached the women's helpline (181) on June 14, 2025, but after the process lagged at the police station, she resorted to the next level which was, filing a complaint at the online grievance portal (IGRS), opened by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.
The office of Chief Minister of UP has sought a report by Circle Officer of Indirapuram, Ghaziabad in a given time period of July 21 in order to respond to the complaint. After initial inquiry police believed the claims of the woman and lodged FIR.
The time at which these allegations were made is rather contrary to the recent career success enjoyed by Dayal. The lefthanded pacer also performed significantly in assisting Royal Challengers Bengaluru to win their first-ever IPL tournament in 2025 after he recorded an impressive season in 2024 with taking 15 wickets in 14 games.
Dayal debuted in the IPL in 2022, playing with Gujarat Titans, who won their title that season. He plays domestic cricket in the Uttar Pradesh team and was born in Prayagraj. A man of consistent performances under pressure, his ascendancy up the ranks has been a plus for RCB.
Until now, neither Yash Dayal nor RCB has made any official statement or responded to the allegations. The authorities have confirmed that a legal process is already being contested, but Dayal has yet to be caught.
The accusations come at a time when the Indian cricket team is placing an even greater emphasis on player behavior and institutional duty in terms of generating secure settings inside and outside the field.
