Harmanpreet Kaur generously gave her Player of the Match award to Kranti Gaud after the pacer took a career-best 6-wicket haul to help India win the ODI series.
The bowling of the 21-year-old Gaud destroyed the English batting lineup despite the heroic 98-run innings of Nat Sciver-Brunt. Gaud's fiery spell limited England despite Nat Sciver-Brunt 98, and concluded the successful England tour of India. The capacity of the young pacer to create important breakthroughs at critical times was instrumental in protecting the Indian total.
The win was historic, where IND-W scored 305, beating ENG-W’s 318/5 by 13 runs at Chester-le-Street. This is India’s second ODI series win in England, the first was in 1999.
The shared award ceremony drew wide attention, with experts praising the captain’s leadership and Gaud’s skill. India Women marked a thrilling 13-run win over England in the final ODI, with Harmanpreet Kaur and Kranti Gaud sharing the moment.
Gaud's performance as a pace bowler was impressive during the English tour. Her six-wicket haul was key to the win and earned praise from her captain. This reflects Harmanpreet’s focus on the team’s success over individual achievements.
The 2-1 series win came after India’s earlier T20I series victory on the tour, highlighting their strength in England. This achievement boosts confidence for future games and reinforces India’s top cricket status.
Cricket experts have praised the captain’s choice as a sign of modern leadership. The act goes beyond usual award ceremonies, honoring both experience and new talent. For Gaud, the recognition from her captain confirms her fast progress in international cricket.
