“Lower Parel, you asked and we listened.”Virat Kohli wrote on his Instagram this Sunday. The Popular former Indian captain just opened another One8 Commune restaurant in Mumbai at World Centre in Lower Parel.
”This isn’t just a new spot. It’s where mid-week plans turn into late-night laughs, where comfort food gets its groove back, and where your table always feels like the best seat in the house. Come by. Bring your people. Let’s do this the way only Mumbai knows how.” He had siad further on his post.
The restaurant had been teasing this opening for weeks on social media. People were wondering when it would actually happen. Now they have their answer.
This makes it Kohli's second restaurant in Mumbai. The first one is in Juhu inside Kishore Kumar's old bungalow. That place has been doing pretty well since it opened a couple years back.
One8 Commune is partnered with Vartik Tihara, Anshul Goel, and Ankit Tayal along with Virat Kohli. They've got eight locations now across six cities. Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and now two in Mumbai.
Lower Parel Is packed with offices and young people with money to spend. One World Centre is with lots of high-end shops and restaurants there already. They do Mushroom Googly Dimsum Curried Fried Prawns, some poke bowls, and this Burnt Basque Cheesecake that shows up on every Instagram story.
Chef Pawan Bisht put together the menu with some international foods but also healthy options because Kohli is big on fitness. There's even a section called 'Virat's Favourites' with dishes he actually eats.
The Avocado Tartare is apparently one of them. Kohli said once, "I remember the first time I tasted it. I specifically asked our chef to set aside a portion to take home with me. It is really THAT good." It's basically fancy avocado with some tempura and sauces.
Also,One8 Commune serves Continental, Mediterranean, and Asian food. Lots of vegetarian options too, which works in Mumbai.
Lower Parel has become this restaurant hub lately. Every celebrity chef wants to be there. Makes sense with all the corporate crowd looking for places to grab lunch or after-work drinks. The Juhu location is in Kishore Kumar's actual house. They kept some of the old vibe but made it modern.
Kohli's been smart about expanding One8 Commune as he picks cities where cricket is big and people know who he is. The restaurants do well because they're not just about the food - people want to eat where Virat Kohli eats.
So now Mumbai has two options if you want the One8 experience. Based on what Kohli posted, sounds like they're ready for the Lower Parel crowd to show up and make some noise.
